Let’s fight food insecurity in our community!

Many Americans believe that hunger is an issue that only plagues the ‘developing world.’ They would be surprised then to learn then that 1 out of 6 people in this country are unsure, on any given day, about whether they will be able to feed themselves adequately. That is more than 50 million people in our communities that experience hunger every day!

Let's build a community of committed individuals to end hunger in our local communities!

Currently 54 million people in the United States are food insecure and more than 1.2 million of those live in New Jersey. 400,000 of those affected are children.

Not having enough food can mean suffering physical development and mental well-being.

Food insecurity affects the poorest to the most affluent neighborhoods.  Parents skip meals to feed their children, seniors on tight budgets make choices between medicine and food, students choose between education and food.  One bad month can be enough to put a family in food insecurity and hunger.

The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the amount of adults in New Jersey who are food insecure from 8.7% to 13.5% and the amount of children from 11.3% to 19.7%.
